Air Jordy Wins First TL3 Crown

26907614_10102880823284177_3739396612281750755_nIt is time to put a bow on season six of The Lombardi Three (TL3). No one wants to read a self-congratulatory post from Air Jordy, so when he asked me to write something, I obliged. In an era of self-congratulation, I applaud Jordy for avoiding the Trumpian route and passing the torch on this one. I was in no hurry to revisit the trauma of this year’s fantasy season, but a man can bask in the horror show of an 8th place finish for only so long.

Despite being crowned regular season champion in 2014 and 2015, this is the first league championship that Jordy has taken home. When taking his prior blog posts about strength of schedule differential and scoring averages into account, his victory should not come as a huge surprise. Jordy entered the playoffs as the 7th seed with a 6-7 record. Although he ends the year with the highest weekly average of points scored, he also played the most difficult schedule during the regular season. This shows how little playoff seeding often matters when you get to the big dance. Dikembe always understood this.

Although I gave Jordy a bit of a scare in the first round, his matches in the semi-final and final rounds were not exactly nailbiters. However, hats off to Trouble Hunter and Christian’s Brothers on excellent seasons. The former team is led by my wife and she has now finished higher than me in both seasons she has been in the league. The latter won five straight games to take home this year’s regular season crown. I must also mention Schoolya’gain, this year’s third place team. I imagine she is still recovering from yesterday’s Minnesota Miracle. Never doubt Stefon Diggs.

I promised Jordy that I would not kiss his ass in this post, but he does deserve credit for how much effort he puts into managing TL3. If nothing else, recognizing that fact will probably get him to keep this thing going for at least another year. I learn new things every year I play in TL3 and this year was no exception. Thanks to all the teams that participated and congratulations to Jordy. I would have gone with a better beer than Blue Moon for my trophy pic, but 8th place losers can’t be choosers. Seeya!

P.S. Never trust the Bengals D/ST.
